Kathleen and her husband bought their fixer upper in February 2021. It was an older home built in the early 1980s, maybe even 1970s, and they knew from the start that the kitchen would need updating. “The cabinets were old and worn out. We knew we wanted to extend the peninsula, and we even found traces of mold during the demo.” Kathleen said. They were fortunate with good bones and a great starting layout to the home. The previous owner had even closed in the back porch to extend the house. “We loved that because it allowed us to make the kitchen bigger during the renovation.” Kathleen said. They decided to update the cabinets, paint, backsplash, and countertops to bring new life to their existing kitchen.
Captivating Columbia Saddle
When we asked Kathleen where the inspiration came from for her new kitchen she was overjoyed about the cabinets themselves. “Honestly, we revolved our design around the cabinets. We knew we wanted wide drawer storage facing out into the living area for the peninsula, so that was a must-have. We had a vision for the space in our heads, and with the help of our Prime Cabinetry designer, it came to life.” Kathleen said. At Prime Cabinetry, working with a designer can make a huge difference in your kitchen remodel experience. Our professional team is here to help every customer through their remodel journey just like they did for Kathleen. “Designer Lauren’s expertise on layout and details were super helpful. She gave us great suggestions during the design process and helped us feel confident before placing our cabinet order.” Kathleen said.
Choosing Prime Cabinetry
Kathleen and her husband worked with Prime Cabinetry on a previous project. So choosing our products for their second remodel was a no-brainer. They fell in love with the same Columbia Saddle cabinets for the first kitchen and had even hired our installer previously as well. “After the great experience we had the first time we knew we would be coming back.” Kathleen said. They found Prime Cabinetry through a mutual friend who purchased cabinets with us before. Our product quality spoke for itself and our installer was quickly hired again after the great work he had already done.
When we asked Kathleen what she enjoyed most about her new kitchen she had nothing but great things to say. Our designer Lauren helped her achieve a better flow throughout the kitchen and was great at suggesting features they hadn’t thought of. “It is so pretty now.” Kathleen said about her new kitchen. “When we first got the house the appliances were not in great locations and we had no counter space.” Now, the kitchen looks and feels more finished with the addition of decorative doors, more storage, more counter space, and a wood hood focal point that Kathleen adores.
Advice and Encouragement
When asked if she had any advice for someone just starting their remodel journey, Kathleen said, “Be ready to learn a lot and be patient.” A kitchen remodel takes time and the team at Prime Cabinetry wants to help you through the process so you can confidently approach your project like a pro, or with a pro. Kathleen’s kitchen remodel taught her a lot about large scale projects including project management, making design choices, and even when to let a professional step in. Overall, she was thrilled with her new cabinets and is loving her new kitchen.
