The Sechi Cottage
The Sechi Cottage
Local to Prime Cabinetry and recently married, Casey and Austin Sechi started their kitchen remodel journey in July 2019.
A sweet little ranch house caught their attention at the busiest time of their lives, wedding planning season, and they took
a leap of faith buying the 1970s ranch in hopes to make it their own. They knew the kitchen would be their first project
to tackle and were ready to go as soon as the house was theirs!
Can You Give Us A Little Background On The Project?
Our house was built in 1972, and had been sitting with no owner for some time. My husband and I stumbled upon this house when we weren’t even shopping for a new home. We are recently married, but this was prior to our big day so we did not initially have plans to buy a house amidst wedding planning. After driving by several times, we were intrigued enough to check out the inside and that was all it took! The kitchen was original to the house, and was the only thing we did not like about it. So we knew what our first project would be once we moved in, and we were sold!
From Where Did You Gain Your Inspiration?
It was pretty easy to utilize websites like Pinterest and Wayfair for inspiration since I had easy access to those sites on my phone. We knew we wanted the popular “Farmhouse Style” with all white cabinets and subway tile. I liked the clean look of a mostly white kitchen since the rest of the house has a lot of dark wood tones throughout. This way this kitchen really stands out in a good way.
What Made You Decide To Work With Prime Cabinetry?
My mom is actually good friends/neighbors with Prime Cabinetry’s Jennifer Goff. We knew she worked in the cabinet business and once we told her what we were needing it was a no brainer to work with them on our project.
What Advice Would You Give Someone Who Is Just Beginning Their Remodeling Journey?
We will definitely do more research before jumping into a project of this size again. We feel we kinda rushed the process being that we were so anxious to get it complete before moving in. It took more time than planned and we wish we would have put more focus on the details. That said, we still feel the kitchen has been transformed compared to it’s dated look before and are happy to call this house home.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Your New Kitchen/Bath?
Do your research! We imagined this would be fairly simple for the average DIYer, but buying cabinets and remodeling a kitchen was way more involved than we initially thought it would be. Between the 2-3 months' time, it took to complete and the cost associated it can easily put you in a tight spot if you are not fully prepared to take on a project of this size. Overall, my dad helped us assemble and install the cabinets, and in the end, it turned out great!
Prime Cabinetry was thrilled to have the opportunity to send our own photographer to the Sechi home to get some of the best before and after photos we have to date! The dark and gloomy hues of the old kitchen left Casey and Austin wanting more out of their new investment, and boy did Prime Cabinetry deliver! Thanks to this sweet couple for allowing us the chance to give them the kitchen of a lifetime, and showcase it to other customers as well.
